Versailles, MO – On Thursday, February 20, the Morgan County R-II School District Board of Education approved hiring Aaron Allen as Athletic Director for the 2025-2026 school year. Previously serving as the Activities/Transportation Director, Allen will dedicate himself solely to athletics next year, with Transportation responsibilities now overseen by the district’s Central Administrative Offices.

Allen has worked a total of 15 years in education. He spent eight years as an elementary PE teacher, football coach, and head track coach at Butler before relocating to Versailles in 2018. Over the past seven years, he has served as a high school PE/Weights teacher, football coach, head track coach, and the district’s Activities and Transportation Director. Allen is a proud member of the Versailles community and is married to Versailles alum Cara Allen. They have four children: Drake (7th grade), Brooklynn (4th grade), Addison (Kindergarten), and baby Breece (9 months).

"I’m excited to return to the district as Athletic Director," said Allen. "This role will allow me to focus on mentoring our coaches, building relationships, and helping them strengthen their connections with student-athletes. I plan to spend more time with our students and coaches at practices and events, update banners to showcase and honor our past programs, and focus on coaching retention. We have an amazing group leading our students, and I’m excited to continue working alongside them. We’ve made great strides, and the best is yet to come for Versailles."

Superintendent Marc Spunaugle expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "We are thrilled to welcome Aaron back as Athletic Director. His dedication to our students and the Versailles community is a great asset. We are excited for the future of our athletics program and grateful to have him back leading the charge."

Allen holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the University of Central Missouri and a Master of Education in Administration K-12 from William Woods University.

As he transitions to his new role on July 1, Allen is poised to build on the momentum of the Versailles Athletics Department, with coaches, athletes, and the school community eager for what’s next.
