Morgan County R-II Passes Highway Patrol Bus Safety Inspection

Annually, the Morgan County R-II School District is required to participate in the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bus Safety Inspection. The annual inspection requires an extensive review of all safety features and equipment on every bus in the overall bus fleet.

We are excited to report that our bus fleet passed inspection! We would like to thank and congratulate our Transportation Department and thank our bus drivers and mechanics for their hard work and dedication in keeping our buses safe for all students.

Thank you Morgan County R-II Board of Education Board Members!

Missourians benefit every day from the dedicated energies and countless hours devoted by the more than 3,600 local school board members in every community across the state. These public servants are elected by local constituents and do not receive compensation for their tireless efforts. As citizens who serve students and represent their communities, school board members face complex and demanding challenges.
During the month of March, communities across the state take time to honor the dedicated service of local boards of education during School Board Recognition Month as proclaimed by Governor Kehoe.
School Board Recognition Month is sponsored by the Missouri School Boards’ Association. The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a private, not-for-profit organization that exists to help school boards ensure all students succeed.
We thank our school board members for their commitment to our community and to the students and staff of the Morgan County R-II School District.

Our Board of Education Members are:
Dwayne Schad - President
April Boicourt - Vice President
Brad Chamberlain - Treasurer
Lori Croy - Member
Rosalie Dear - Member

Missouri Celebrates National Poison Prevention Week

This week is National Poison Prevention Week. A poison is a substance that is harmful to the body when ingested, inhaled, injected, or absorbed through the skin.

Children are at risk of poisoning from household and personal care products, medications, vitamins, indoor plants, lead, carbon monoxide, button cell batteries, and water.

In 2023, 30 children died of unintentional poisoning. The Missouri Poison Center is an informational resource and provides statewide service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, professionally staffed by nurses, pharmacists and physicians who are prepared to assist with exposures in all age groups. It is a free service to the public and can be accessed either on the internet at https://buff.ly/3EbAowL or toll-free at 1-800-222-1222.

A graphic showing that over 2,100,000 poison exposures occur annually in the United States, with over 45% involving children under 6.
