Versailles, MO – The Morgan County R-II School District is excited to welcome a new leader to Versailles Elementary School. Mrs. Melissa Wissman has been hired as the new Elementary Assistant Principal and brings ten years of experience in education. The Board officially approved Melissa during its regular meeting on Thursday, March 20. She will transition to her new role on July 1, 2025.
Melissa began their career in Marshall, MO, teaching 4th grade at Eastwood Elementary for six years, including three years in a 3rd/4th grade co-taught collaborative classroom. She then taught 5th grade English Language Arts (ELA) at Sedalia Middle School for four years while also serving for the last two years as a coach for the 5th-grade robotics team. Beyond the classroom, she has been actively involved in her local teacher’s association, curriculum planning, advisory committees, and other leadership roles to support student success.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Morgan County R-II School District as the new Assistant Principal at Versailles Elementary,” said Melissa. “I look forward to collaborating and working with our dedicated staff and students to help everyone achieve their goals. The Morgan County R-II School District’s strong sense of community is inspiring, and I am excited to contribute to and be a part of it.”
Superintendent Marc Spunaugle shared his enthusiasm for the new hire, stating, “We are excited to welcome Melissa Wissman to our district. Her experience, leadership, and passion for education will make a great impact on our students and elementary school.”
Melissa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (1-6) from Central Methodist University (CMU), a Master’s Degree in Language & Literacy Special Reading from Park University, and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership K-12 Administration from the University of Central Missouri (UCM).
